selling my shovelhead chopper. this is a 1980 shovelhead in a pre 70’s(no numbers) paughco frame. with the sale, you will also get the OEM original swingarm frame with matching motor numbers. this bike started out as an FXE model. has been bored from a 1200 to a 1340. started swapping everything over from the original frame about a year ago, and have finally got it almost complete. unfortunately, i dont have the time to finish it..my loss is your gain. the way it sits right now is about 99% complete. needs a few odd and end things to get it 100%. with the original frame, youll get a chrome wideglide front end with a 21″ front wheel. will also throw in the original 16″ rear wheel(both laced wheels).
the bike has a narrowglide front end from a sportster 1200s(tuneable front forks). sporty peanut gas tank with built in fuel sight gauge in the side. short drag style handlebars. bdl open belt primary setup. flat trailer style rear fender. early style horseshoe oil tank. s&s super E carb. sportster/dyna style mag wheels(19″front 16″rear). somewhat hard to tell from the pictures, but has a tangerine color metalflake paint job. late model rear brake caliper setup. no front brakes. the bike is kick only, but starts first kick on most occasions.

all that the bike is lacking to make it completely rideable is a few things. the shifter setup is “rigged” up so that i could ride the bike around the neighborhood and make sure everything was working like it should. the brakes are not wanting to bleed correctly, however if they are pumped two or three times will grab.(should just be a master cylinder rebuild, and/or maybe a caliper piston seal kit) the rear sprocket is not lined up properly. may just need a straight sprocket instead of dished. rode the bike around the neighborhood and the chain masterlink came undone, and the chain hit the top of the fender. put a small dent in it, and chipped off some of the paint. also, the lower fitting on the fuel tank sight gauge has leaked, and made the paint bubble up a little bit.(did not put enough sealing tape on the threads) other than that, the bike starts and runs with no issues. its a bike for an experienced rider. wouldnt recommend this as a starter bike.
the bike is beautiful and fun and i hate to sell it, but lack of time keeps me from finishing it. this bike is way too fun to sit in a garage, so my loss is your gain. any questions, please feel free to ask. can send more pictures on request
